Well, it might get much worse, many people of all sorts might die in gruesome ways or envy the dead in their horrid mutilation, and in the end the world was a better place if the problem would've just gone on, but it's solved either way.

Maybe her version of an insane idea is to just sit back and not do anything this time.

After all, if Anita and Paul were really going to attack, they would have done it already. They want answers, and they know they probably will have an easier time getting them from the living.

But I bet Sarine can persuade them to change their minds, if she follows her usual pattern.

I don't think their minds are open to being changed. The "insane idea" more likely has something to do with a memory of her distant past as an Ensigerum trainer. They may have advanced a long way, and discovered time magic, but they're still the descendants of a force that Sarine knew very well back then -- as well as one that she has a big-time bone to pick with.
