Yeah, but in emoticon faces we usually don't bother with depicting the dilation of the pupils, nor whether or not they are moving.

I think that we're seeing the effects of Sarine's plan here as much as anything. I wasn't able to pick out anything in particular that looked like Ian...though it is about time for him to show up again.

Meji'd be bringing a couple of battlecraft with her. Unless she managed to lose them in hyperspace, or where-ever. I suspect this is Ian, Kawaii, and Nookie still beating on each other. Which is really kind of impressive, that their fight has lasted this long. I didn't think the kid had it in him...

Possibilities:

Sarine used an Armageddon spell.

Ian used an Armageddon spell.

Ian related fairy dust overreaction.

Main cannon of incoming Mage's ship targeted Sarine on purpose.

Replace "on purpose" with "by accident".

Replace Main Cannon with Meji.

Switch to "on purpose" again.

Stray bullet hit crates of elven city's fireworks factory.

My guess, which is not one of the ones listed or thought of thus far, and as such most likely to end up being true, is that it's the Elves, launching an attack in the absence of Ian, and thus following their plot mandate of being dumb-asses.

I'd say Meji, in some form or another.Elven fireworks have an inbuilt theme music.
