He might have been made mostly/entirely of magic before, too. I mean, talking winged cat and all.

So! When you dispel a familiar, do they simply die or do they fall back into whatever they were before they were made intelligent? Admittedly, going from "magical construct" to "mortal" within Ian's godlike grip is going to lead to death anyway...

I'm not willing to write Ellis off just yet. After all, another god made him into what he is - he might be hardier than Ian's expecting.

Well, that was unexpected. I sure didn't consider that someone would bother killing Ellis. Then again, I wasn't aware of him gaining any special powers with his recent transformation. If Meji transformed him with Senilis-magic, perhaps that means that Ian could also dispel the other two, since they would've been created in a similar way? But perhaps their seniority might save them. Or their power levels. Maybe Ellis should've grinded some levels on time monks before he went up against a godmage?

How exactly is a dispel supposed to work here?

His transformation from cat into a catboy isn't just some magic that is in effect, he actually transformed physically. Only thing that would be of concern is his link to Meji.
