Why do otherwise intelligent people get melodramatic when weapons are out? Don't fucking talk, don't give the jackass a chance to respond. Just draw and turn the contents of his skull into abstract wall art. Go ahead and feel guilty after the adrenaline wears off and you've got your friends safe.

Considering she had to swing that thing around in an arc, Ian's reaction time must suck donkey balls.

That's about ten seconds too long. Hell, giving Ian enough time to even get out a full sentence was too much time. Draw, target, pull. One motion. She already knows his arguments, so it's not like anything is gained by giving him a moment to respond.

It seemed more like 5-6 seconds to me. I'm surprised Meji waited that long.
Ian confirms that he is suicidal, six seconds is enough to try something desperate.

He closes his eyes and waits for the bang. He wasn't trying to get out of the way at all. Suicidal is right. He's just tired of it all and just wants it all to go away. Unfortunately for him, we know this *still* won't kill him. Unless the Ian and Meiji from the future is an alternate timeline. But its a very good scene in my humble opinion, its got a decent heft to it and there's still the small matter of whether the gun will actually go off or not still waiting to be seen.
