Sigh. The elves have it coming. I think they honestly believe they can defeat the errants because that is all they see. They lack the imagination to think they might be outclassed here. Or perhaps have too much hubris. Reap the whirlwind, I say.

Do the elves have any choice other than to fight? The intruders busted into their fortified city, have shown no mercy thus far and killed every elf they encountered. They're the ones defending themselves, and these elves we see are clearly those responsible for the safety of their city (and consequentially, their race).

Considering the staggering implications of being the sole line of defence between your race and extinction, I see nothing that suggests hubris on the elves' part here. Hell, they gathered a huge number of forces to strike down the invader. It's not like they're requesting one on one honourable combat.

Actually, I'm more worried for Ian and Meji at this point. Ian's thirst for vengeance has overridden any common sense he might have had at one point.

As much as I hate to say it, it looks like Ian stands to lose everything because of his blindness to anything besides revenge (justified or not).
