You've got it backwards. First, earth became populated by grad students and anime nerds. That cause the apocalypse (souds realistics, doesn't it?). Of course the survivors will STILL be grad-students (now immortal) and anime nerds.

Yeah, I think Sara is saying as plainly as possible that she does not want that power, she would be very pissed if they gave it to her especially thinking she would serve them, so don't cus it'd be bad for them.
