Munchkin, Zombies, and Mao

Because it only took Viking-Sensei three years (and the approaching end of Errant Story) to come up with a better name for "General Discussions"

Munchkin, Zombies, and Mao

Post by Imp-Chan »

So, this past weekend was Diplocon, and unlike pretty much any other convention I attend, Diplocon has a rocking room full of board games. This year, I learned to play Zombies and Munchkin, and taught a handful of people to play Mao (very gently, I might add... gone are the days when I did not know how to play nice).

Things I learned:

- Killing zombies is remarkably therapeutic.
- The Zombies game takes forever to play.
- It is awesome to be female if playing Munchkin.
- No one is ever actually WINNING Munchkin, much like Mao.
- Mao is a dangerous game to teach people, because they will take to it like ducklings to water.

I also learned that a giant room full of boardgames acts as a sort of geek lodestone, more so than pretty much anything else you could do. That was an interesting and quite rewarding revelation.

Yay Munchkin,
just the sheer quantity of humor mixed with backstabbiness makes the game worth while.
