Delicious Sea Kittens...

Because it only took Viking-Sensei three years (and the approaching end of Errant Story) to come up with a better name for "General Discussions"

Delicious Sea Kittens...

Post by Imp-Chan »

Share your favorite recipes for sea kittens here.

Personally, I believe that sea kittens are best devoured mere moments after death, preferably raw and dipped in fermented soy blood and a fine paste of horseradish meat. They are especially yummy with boiled, denuded and sterilized rice babies and mummified algae.

Cruelty can apparently be delicious.

my first reaction was *blink blink blink* swiftly followed by "is this serious?"... then i noticed the creator of the site

this said, i am not a big fan of the sea kitten, though sword-kitten grilled correctly is perfection.

For lunch, I like to open a can of "kitten of the sea", mix it with a little mayo, mustard, finely chopped onion and a chopped cherry pepper (or jalapeño) and stuffed into peta, er, pita bread.

I'm a traditionalist. Breaded, with vinegar.

...

I just got hungry. I'm going down to my local sea kitten house for a nice sea kitten platter.

What do you mean no one eats sea kitten for breakfast?

Sea kittens aren't really to my taste, so the best I can do is to advocate freeze-dried sea kittens for use on backpacking trips, etc. (Backpacking trips are a great time to eat stuff that you'd consider gross and inedible if placed on the dining-room table.) They can be reconstituted with plain old water, but adding some wild mushrooms, and maybe some pine nuts if they're available, contributes a bit of taste and texture -- sort of a sea-kitten cacciatore.

Heh, what's next? Aracni-Kitten? Snakittens?

But freshly caught and skinned, then buttered and salted to perfection, and eat enough and you get a decent fur coat too.

Personally, I'm a big fan of deep fried bi-valve sea-kittens.

Batter fried with fries, hushpuppies, and a hot, spicy ketchup to dip them in.

In MY day, we only used kittens for muskie bait, but that was in fresh water.

Sea kittens make good chum for baiting sharks if you do a "Doctor Kildare" on them and turn them loose in the water.
History celebrates the battlefields whereon we meet our death, but scorns to speak of the plowed fields whereby we thrive; it knows the names of kings’ bastards but cannot tell us the origin of wheat. This is the way of human folly. --- Henry Fabre
