Name: Cithule (Cit for short)
Age: Around 25 (Half-elf)
Occupation: soldier of fortune, half-mage?

Apperance: 6'5, lean quite muscular, medium length blond hair with blue grey eyes. He wears a white hooded robe with grey trousers and top with brown leather boots. He has a good knowledge of offensive spells and several healing ones (theres no point in fighting without being able to fix the mess you made) along with these he has a pistol and a wrist knife. He also a talking familiar called Felix: a small grey wolf with white feather wings.

History: The son of only god knows who he was dumped somewhere within in Tsuiraku and had to scrape living. His upbringing was brutal and being labled an errant (despite no signs of any afflicition) he grew up learning how to fight and win. there was this patronising poor scholar crap at the Sashi Mu academy and with him having a high magic capability he was good for publicity and he might even benifit from the teaching so he stayed there for a while. Whilst there he developed a love for history and in particular ancient artifacts(stealing and selling the flashy ones and keeping the useful ones for himself). He was expelled when he tried using mental spell on his teacher and went back onto the streets. The only things he had left were: his familiar Felix, several texts and a piece of broken dwarven weaponry. He has subsequently be searching for dwarven schematics to help him in repairing it. Of course as he lacks any funds this has meant he has had to aquire the various documents he needs via more shady means. This now means that he is wanted in most major cities and the Gewher has been given a contract for his head. As a result of his new found infamy he is looking for someone who can help him.

Hope this works better and I would appreciate any kind of set up to help my character into the Homontel story if that's ok with you guys.

That looks like a pretty well-thought-out character who could fit reasonably into the world of Errant Road. The only possible problem that I can see is this part:
Templar771 wrote: History: The bastard son of a wealthy human merchant and elven ranger he was sent away to live in Tsuiraku and he studied at the Sashi Mu academy for a while. He was expelled when he tried using mental spell on his teacher and when he turned 18 he was cut loose by his parents.
Who's daddy and who's mommy? It almost doesn't matter, because a half-elf born under these conditions, but not in the forbidden city (Tsuirakushiti), is going to spend all of his life on the run, not from the law but from the elves. If he's a "bastard son," he's not going to be cut loose by his "parents" (plural) at age 18, but rather, disowned, if not outright rubbed out, by the elf parent as soon as his existence is known. If the elf is his mother, he's probably aborted as soon as she knows he's on the way. If the elf is his father, then we basically have a male version of Meji here, without the protection afforded by being in Tsuirakushiti to start with.

That's something you can work out, though; there are obviously other half elves in the Poe-verse, therefore there are also other half elves in the Errant Road-verse. If you massage the origins into something that works and doesn't clash with canon, I'd say you've got a character there.

Which thread would you want to introduce him into? He'd be quite a natural fit, in some ways, in the Homontel thread. Getting him into the current Mountains of Madness thread might be a bit tougher but could be arranged. Let me know and I'll write a "hook." Incidentally, it'd be a good idea to take some time and read the Errant Road threads more or less from the beginning, to get a sense of how we got to where we are.

Anyway, welcome, and we'll look forward to seeing "Cit" (possibly in a slightly edited version) around here somewhere...

Yes, that takes care of it. Next time I'm up, I'll write a hook into Homontel.

If you haven't done so already, I suggest you give some of the "Rear View Mirror" threads a read, to see how we got to where we are. Kiyoka Part 2, Saus, and Centoriel are the relevant ones that lead to where Homontel is now.

It'll be nice to have you...

Impy here, co-opting Poe's account because I'm too lazy to log him out and me in again as I browse the forums on his laptop. I just wanted to say that I particularly liked the bit about the scholarship program in Tsuiraku, it's sortof a "King's Scholars" type of thing and a really good fit. Sashi Mu in particular is less likely, since Meji would have noticed another half elf there and it's up on the big floating island thingy... but I could easily see one of the other schools doing exactly the same thing, and that way you wouldn't have to explain away an extra half elf in Sashi Mu.

I don't think there would have really been a problem with Meji and another half elf at Sashi Mu, given the 20-year age difference between Meji and "Cit" -- he'd have been long gone (expelled or otherwise) before she showed up. But yeah, I agree, the revision is definitely a lot easier to deal with, for a number of reasons. The scholarship program is indeed an excellent idea, and also consistent with the way the unfortunate baddie twins in the Saus/Centoriel episode were received in Emerylon.

Interesting idea. I see two potential problems, neither of them necessarily show stoppers, but something to keep in mind as the character develops. First, there are possibly more concerns about stumbling over "canon" with an elven ranger than with other character types, since the character class (for lack of a better word -- no correspondence with, uh, other role-playing games is intended or implied) is restricted in both numbers and roles in the Poe-verse. Second, you might find it difficult to integrate such a character into the existing threads, because his or her objectives aren't likely to line up with either party's. Still, neither of these are insuperable. What did you have in mind? We'd love to have more participants.

My brain works in spurts and stops, but I'll try to explain here so I can get some feedback and see if I need to go elsewhere with my clumsy creative stuttering.

Name: Nihanin, No Surname
Age: 2683
Occupation: Peregrin; Bard-Like; Rover

Appearance: He has, like other Peregrin, adopted human armor. Under a light gray hooded gambeson, often left unbuckled, he favors armor of a light nature that protects the vitals and offers miniscule protection for extremity through the use of padded leather. A breastplate, thin pauldrons, and greaves that interlock with heavy leather boots form the majority. Strapped across his shoulder, slung low on hips, is his swordbelt and his blade, favoring hand-and-a-half and often left uncovered by a scabbard. Except when culture or necessity demands. A shield, kite-sized, is tossed over his back or worn on his arm.

Powers: Favors charms and illusions, being particularly subtle and clever with magic involving temporary shapeshifting despite his elven resistance to it. Also well-trained with most weapons, and an excellent close-quarter combatant. Not experiences, but knowledgable, with guns though he cannot and will not use them.

History: Yes, an Errant War Particapant, though arguably young at the time. He was a playwright, and musician, with a successful career and a particular taste for human women. In fact, an obsession one could say, not even taking an elven wife despite his parent's consternation with his frivolity. Unfortunatly, as sometimes is the risk with taking human wives, he found one that not only claimed his heart... but gave birth to a sun. Gandonis, a scant twenty-eight years before the outbreak of the purges that began to take place. When war broke out, he was neutral for some time, but like so many others.. he was drawn into it, on the half-elves side. Many a battle son and father fought in, together, protecting themselves and their small family. Such ideals cannot stand up to tragedy, as the bard elf should have known well.

Gandonis went errant, and during a respite from battle, murdered his mother and attempted the same with his father in a duel of magic that burnt down the tomb of their family and thier love. The fight left emotional scarring, and perhaps even Aetern Desiderium, filtered through his artistic past.

His allegiance, that day, switched to the elves proper and though trust was hard to come by, he proved his new devotion by contributing to some of the most brutal, harsh attacks in the war. Until both sides were forced to consider what they had become and what they had done.

He could not rest in isolation for long, though long is again relative to an immortal, instead he joined the Peregrin and has since ever travelled. Despite his nature, and the dark twist that changed his view, to say he is heartless to the Errants is not true.

He recognizes that he is as much a monster as they, and has developed a certain style. When he finds a half-elf, he sometimes joins them, travelling in their company. Learning their ways, their mannerisms, in fact the very person that he is tracking and seeking to kill. Sometimes, though rarely, he even allows them to live on freely. More often, he is pushed by his sense that a perfectly healthy man or woman now can become as monsterous, or even more so, then he is now. At the drop of a hat, with little warning.

The character is going to be walking a major tightrope, and cannon will be a significant thing to worry about. But having said that, I kinda like the guy. And I'm saying this as someone playing probably PREY for him.

This ranger sounds interesting, if seriously challenging to integrate into the party, and with real canon concerns -- but it sounds like you can handle that. Which scenario? He'd probably (nay, certainly) fit more easily into the group at Mountains of Madness. Let me know and I'll write a hook.

When I conceived of all those people at the mission, I'd really intended them to be NPCs (if important and named ones) to get the play moving, but Sister Rose and Brother Miguel seem to have acquired a PC life of their own, so in response to some recent confusion, let me describe them here.

Name: Rose Nuria-Lucas, aka Sister Rose
Occupation: Nun in the Reformed branch of the Veracian Church; ex-military (special ops)
Description: Hard to say, because she is so proficient with polymorph magic -- see next -- that her "normal" appearance is somewhat a matter of doubt. Most probably, she's about 38 but might look anything from 25 to 50, depending on circumstances. In that most probable "normal" state, she is of average height or a bit taller, slender physique, with fair complexion, medium-length brown hair tinged with red, and startling green eyes. Her face is notable for sensitivity and serenity, matching her normally quiet, soft-spoken personality, although that too is "adjusted" to her actual appearance of the moment. However, she has been seen to shape-shift into states such as fashionable young explorer (think the Karen Allen role in "Raiders of the Lost Ark," but with lighter hair), large and high-powered businesswoman in her late forties, conservative and aging piano teacher, tidy and uptight military officer, and even, well, dominatrix. In all of these shapes, she has green eyes, the one thing about her appearance that she is totally unable to change.
History: Rose Nuria was born in Saus and raised in fairly comfortable circumstances, enjoying a reasonably happy early childhood. Her remarkable capacity for shape-shifting was discovered early, when she adopted an improbable, impromptu disguise to try to avoid punishment for some unspecified childhood peccadillo, a disguise that so completely fooled her worried parents that they kept asking the unfamiliar "Ashli" where her friend Rosie was. Eventually her green eyes gave her away, and it was decided that young Rose had such talent that she should be given over to the Orthodox Veracian Church for training as a nun -- and as a military officer to be. The training took (she has a capacity for magical Empathy as well as the usual basic spellcraft of Veracian clergy), but the theology didn't, and she moved from the Orthodox church to the Reformed -- to the relief of the Powers That Be, actually, because of the issues that the Orthodox church has with women in positions of importance. Her rise in the military was rapid, as she'd already become a major in the special forces before getting involved in the Albigenish Incident -- and meeting Kenny Lucas. One thing led to another, and she and Kenny were married soon after the Incident, not entirely to the liking of his ... unusual ... family. Alas, Kenny died under tragic circumstances (yet to be revealed) a few years back, shattering Rose, and causing her to leave the active-duty military. Her superiors in the Reformed church, who like her greatly, saw the newly-opened Veracian mission in Kiyoka as both a good place for her to get her life back together (which she's basically done successfully) and also a good professional opportunity, as its "fact-finding" (ahem) role is one that benefits from having someone available who can pass for Kiyokan -- or other things. She's been at the mission for a few years now, until she joined Argus in the quest for the missing Father Egbert.

Name: Miguel Monterio, aka Brother Miguel
Occupation: Junior priest in the Reformed branch of the Veracian Church; ex-military (special ops)
Description: Miguel is 31 years old and of medium height and slender but fit build. His skin tone is dark enough to suggest that he might be of Farrelite origin, although in fact he hails from places farther south. He has dark hair and brown eyes and is clean-shaven under normal conditions, although a small, frizzy mustache comes and goes. He normally wears the robes of a priest of the Reformed church. Neither Veracian nor Tsuirakuan are his native language, but he speaks both with native proficiency, although he can develop an odd accent under conditions of unusually great stress. (Note that Spanish is used to convey the original language that creeps into his speech at such times; that language shouldn't really be construed as Spanish, but it's a handy surrogate for a native language that I lack the creativity to write.)
History: Miguel grew up on the Southern Continent, in a "tribal" setting in the rain forest. He was rescued from this (and from becoming the guest of honor at a human sacrifice ritual) by a party of Veracian missionaries, in an incident described in a flashback sequence. Like Rose, he was recognized early as having high potential for magic, with particular skill in Divination, and recruited for a military career much as she was. He also converted to the Reformed church at some point, becoming something of an expert on heresies and sects while he was at it. He's a reservist now and has returned to the Reformed church as a priest, stationed at Kiyoka until he drew the duty of escorting Argus -- a duty that he has basically enjoyed, as he's a bit too footloose to be stuck in a fixed location for long. The one down side is that the outing has taken him away from his main squeeze, mini-skirted Sister Marilyn at the mission. He doesn't realize how much he misses her -- yet.
