Thanks for the summary Grey, and the link.

**reads thread summaries**

K, k. I swear down I'll finish reading the backstory in detail at some point. but at least now I've got the general outline.

I'll try and think of something, elves have never been my race of choice to support for various reasons but that might be motivation for me to stretch myself as a writer take a run-up at a character. I mean, fuck, if I can manage a kobold/cat-girl character an elf should be a breeze... right?

Would that be linked to the whole 'attemped GENOCIDE!' thing by any chance?

Guess I should've been a little more specific there, my bad, I kind of mentally put elves/half elves/quasi elves/pepsi light elves into the same categeory for tendencies they have towards appearance/abilities/attitude and so on but don't worry, no a-bombs will be accidentally dropped in the snamish thread.

Dunno if I could make a decent elf character tbh, or at least create one that isn't a rehash of other people's ideas. I'd probably have an easier time just adopting one of the npc's. It's probably why I'm creatively stuck as far as getting into that thread goes, I wouldn't want to start posting unless I could come up with something fresh that fits into the story.

edit- for some reason the word GENOCIDE! is in caps even though I didn't write it in caps, anyone know why?

Alright dang nam it... here i go...first draft.

Name: Eli Haverum

Race: Half-elf

Gender: Male

Age: 40 (looks early/mid twenties.)

Appearance: Stands tall at just over 6 feet, with an overlong head of blonde hair typically pinned, or braided up to keep out of his eyes, which are a plain brown colour, handsome but not overly so, with fairly masculine features and a strong jawline. Usually wears the a suit of armour suited for guard duty.

Background: To call Eli's background dull would be harsh, but not entirely inaccurate. His parents (both half-elves themselves) moved to Snamish some twenty years before the dissatisfied young man (at least young by half-elf standards) was born. Most of Eli's existance was spent in Snamish, learning all the 'cultural necessities' that his parents and rest of the half-elf community thought proper for one of their people to know. The result was a frustraited young man armed with magic, historical knowledge and swordsmanship and no real opportunity to use it. His ties to the tight-knit community clashed with his desire to see at least a little more of the world outside of the virtual shelter he grew up in. As Eli grew up he found himself taking any and every job available that allowed him to travel. As a result he got to know the nearby towns and countryside in Veracia, at least in passing. But when these precious few tasks (escort duty usually) aren't available Eli typically finds himself on guard duty with a pining look on his face as he stares at the horizon.

Personality: Eli is an elf bound by a sense of honour and duty but also gripped by a feverish need for adventure, this leads him to be impatient in demeanour often, overjoyed at interesting developments and bored stiff when the days get slow. His sense of humour is somewhat warped.

Abilities: A fair swordsman but his limited combat experience means he finds it difficult to adapt against unusual styles, as a mage he's better, possessing an array of magic expected of a half-elf his age (solid offensive/defensive/buffing stuff, you know the drill). Also plays the harmonica pretty well.

Right, that's the skeleton of the guy right there, I'll try and bring him in when the group get to town get unless there's something terminally wrong with this guy. feedback welcome.

EXCELLENT. There'll be a chance to introduce him very soon now. Two little things: First, suggest you downplay how well he knows the surrounding area, at least from escort duty. (The half elves of Snamish don't get out much.) Second, I think the basic model for half-elf age would have a 40YO half elf looking like maybe early to mid twenties, just a shade older than you picture him.

I'm looking forward to seeing him (and you) in the Veracia threads! Anyone else?

Looks good to me.

For reference, Lillith is late 30s and can easily be seen as a late teens girl just entering her majority. That might help guide age determinations.

"Late" thirties? I thought she was 34. That lined up perfectly with a visit by the teenaged Argus to the Northern Confederacy, remember? And Argus is now 48 or 49.

Long overdue for a full profile.

Name: Tamina McDuff

Age: 13 (about 26 in human years)

Appearance: Yellow eyes, petite features on her face (quite pretty, if cat-girls float your boat) and bedecked by patches of black and white fur on a typically lean, mostly humanoid body. Her extremities are more noticiably animalistic, featuring claws and stubby digits which are the norm on cat-people along with the ears and tail.

Occupation: Hunter/Healer

Background: Being one of the few members in her tribe on the Southern continent to have latent magical ability meant Tamina's path was mapped out pretty clearly for her early on. Her childhood was the typical rough and tumble unbringing of the tribes mixed in with a basic magic education curtuosy of the Leli, the tribes elder and healer. Things might've stayed uneventful for the kobold until her capture by Eisenfault-associated sailors working for the slave and vices trade. The 'cat girl' found herself stuffed into a cage and transported to Port Lorrel prior to her arrival in the Errant Road story. She managed to escape from the Port a few days later with no small amount of help from Jamie. The pair sailed back to the Southern Continent and the kobold reunited with her tribe to find them caught in a plague-related crisis (an on-going story in the Southern Continent thread).

Personality: Tamina has a happy, outgoing personality most of the time. Her behaviour is sometimes marked by 'yooman's' as being weird (occasionally offensive) due to the cultural differences between the two people. She has strong maternal and family orientated instincts, although she does have a harder side that surfaces from time to time, especially in situations where she finds herself backed into a corner. Occasionally scatterbrained but always willing to help.

Abilities: Far from an archmage, but certainly a competant healer, Tamina also has the agility and hunting abilities typical of her kind. She has difficulty weilding weapons due to the shape of her digits but is not incapable of doing so, hunting bows usually being the most suitable choice.

Her spells fall into stuff like healing up to moderate injuries, curing mild illnesses (seasickness, colds, etc) and resetting broken bones, she can also use the magic current in her body to 'charge' herself and allies (rpg stat buffering type stuff) for brief periods to increase their speed and strength or infuse things with temporary magical energy, although continual use of these tricks exhausts her quickly. All her spells are contact based, she doesn't know any 'destructive' type magic.

Typical Equipment:
Tribal Clothing (hides and skins)
Hunting bow and arrows

Name: Hikari

Race: Human, Tsuirakuan

Age: 18

Occupation: Just graduated from magic high school, looking for continuing magical education

Appearance: Long straight dark blue hair cut in an old-fashioned Tsuirakuan style (read: kind of a traditional Japanese cut that is cut in various straight layers) and gray eyes. Petite build, physically looks like you could easily break her over your knee.

Abilities: Beginner to Intermediate level spellcasting. Her mother's family specializes in a simple form of telekinesis, nothing on the scale of lifting buildings or even people, they use it for magic tricks (the sleight of hand kind) or willing a small object to come to them from across the room. Hikari is still not very good at it, but has been known to tap into its one defensive power which is basically, if someone big picks on her and she gets scared, she can knock them over with roughly the same force as a grown man punching them. (Let me know if this ability is too ridiculous, I wanted to give her something quirky, but manageable :) )

History: The second daughter of Tsuirakuan expats, Hikari grew up in Tsuiraku-town and went to the local magic high school (read: nothing close to Tsuiraku magical training, but considerably more than your average in Farrel.) She has delusions about what Tsuiraku is really like, thinking it must be the greatest place in the world, and wants to move there and become a "real" sorceress like her ancestor her mother told her about when she was a child.
