"Now that sounds like a good chance to go shoot something. I'm down with that." Jamie grabbed the notice and pulled it off the board.

"You're not supposed to do that," Moose replied.

"And?" Jamie arched an eyebrow. Then the girl turned to Moose. "So, since it looks like we're leaving town I guess that means your task is done and it's time to get a new assignment from her bitchness?"

OOC I dunno, does it? Grey? Help? I figured Jaime and Tamina could escort the caravan (opening up opportunities for new players to get involved) to some small town a day or so from the Port, as to what happens while they do it.... no idea yet./OOC

Well, what happens while they do it is that they make a mess out of things. Is that so difficult? And presumably Jasmine follows them, and the Kitaura minion follows Jasmine. Incomprehensible furball to follow ...

... In other words, go for it. The Kitaura end of things will adjust.

Eastbourne Street was a wide cobbled affair which stood as the last chance to stop before a visitor left the port. As they turned into the final road sans Moose (who had left the pair fairly skipping to report back to his superior that the pair were leaving town) Tamina saw the fields which lay beyond the stone wall that marked the perimeter of the city. She stared for a moment, feeling the tug of the road despite how strange the openess of the scenery looked to her.

A tug on her sleeve from Jaime woke the kobold up to where they standing. Above her head, Tamina saw a hefty and official looking sign which she pronounced as 'Ease-boom skeet trakers'. An assurance from her companion that they were at the right place was all the motivation she needed to enter.

"Your shops look weird." Tamina commented, as they walked through the entrance to the reception desk. The shelves were stocked with canned goods, meat, furs, camping gear and a montage of a thousand other things someone could concievably need at some given time. It was all penned in, cramped together, a far cry from the casual displays and spread blankets of Grendell in the southern continent or her own village. Presiding over this display of various goods was a skinny old man with an enormous white moustache and a nervous pair of wringing hands. The way the corners of his facial hair pulled up when he saw the pair suggested to the kobold the gesture was more of a reflex than from geniune happiness.

"Welcome to Eastbourne Street Traders." He intoned, still flexing his digits. "Are you here to buy or sell?"

"Sell," Jamie replied easily. "Assuming you're Harry Sanders. We're offering our time and martial prowess in exchange for shiny things that bring us the good life."

"I'm Harry Sanders." The old man replied, unclasping his hands long enough to offer one in a polite handshake. "And I'm glad someone finally replied to the job I posted. I haven't been able to get anything out for weeks."

"How come?" Tamina asked, appearing suddenly over her comrade's shoulder.

"Well.. umm... the last three caravans I sent out where hit by some kind of bandits. Real weirdo's the last escort said. Wore bright colours, seemed to be away with the fairies."

"Wha-?"

"Not playing with a full deck."

"Erm?"

"Loco in the coco."

"Wzuh?"

"Crazy!" The old man slapped a hand across his forehead to emphasise his aggrivation. "Look, it's about halfway to Ester when the wagons usually get hit. I need some reliable people to make sure they ARRIVE this time. You two look like you'd be able to handle this sort of thing." He looked meaningfully at Tamina, who'd gotten bored with the conversation and was currently unlimbering an oversized fish from a crate packed with ice. "You, more than her, I'd say."

OOC I think this would be an excellent time to introduce some new characters./OOC

[OOC]Yeah. It'd be nice. But I'm still trying to figure out how to kidnap someone via the Internet.[/OOC]

"Just pay her wages in fish. No, wait, don't do that. We need the coin." Jamie shook her head. "Yeah, I think we can handle the occasional crazy. When do we leave, where do we toss our stuff, and DUCK!"

Jamie suddenly flung herself behind the counter, then grabbed Tamina and pulled her behind it with her, fish and all. The moment Tamina disappeared behind the edifice of wood, Jasmine stuck her head in through the door with a sour look. The lady cased the joint with narrow eyes and pursed lips, then withdrew and moved on.

"Damn," Jamie muttered. "I could have sworn it was going to take her at least one more day to get here."

"Who was that?" Sanders asked, clearly bewildered.

"My mother. She's off her rocker."

"Eh?"

"She has bats in the belfry."

"Uhm?"

"Doesn't have both oars in the water."

"Well..."

"Crazy!" Jamie shook her head at Tamina. "Just eat your fish."

"I like your mother."

Jamie facepalmed.

[OOC]I just had to extend the joke. Hope you don't mind my putting words in Tamina's mouth.[/OOC]

OOC Not at all, it made me smile. You got her to a tee. :D /OOC

"Well, I can't doubt your experience with crazy." Harry remarked. "The wagon will set off in a couple of hours, just be there with your best guns on, and it'll be an overnight trip so provisions will be provided. Hopefully I'll be able to hire a few more people by departure time." The old man shuffled to a storage room in the back wall of the traders, producing an iron key from his pocket and unlocking the door.

"If there's any stuff you don't fancy lugging to Ester..." He began, talking to Jamie.

"I'm gonna eat you little fishie..." Sang Tamina, skipping merrily down an aisle of the store with the object of her song cradled in her arms.

"...or just want to dump here for a while before you go..."

"I'm gonna eat you little fishiiiie..."

"...like your companion, for instance...."

"I'M GONNA EAT YOU LITTLE FISHIIIIEEE!!"

"...then go right ahead."

"...because I like eating little fishies!"

"It's a half a bit for the sturgeon. Just leave it on the counter, I need some headache powder." Harry, looking noticably more weary than he had when the pair had arrived, began clomping up the shop stairs.

[OOC]The scary thing is I know the reference there.[/OOC]

"So, what's to be done in the mean time? We've got a couple of hours and all our stuff is with us. Mom is prowling about the area and I don't know how good we'll be at keeping out of view." Jamie pinched her nose. "She is seriously cramping my style."

As it happened, at that very moment, Jasmine was being approached by a well-dressed man, or at least what appeared to be a well-dressed man, Illusion spells being what they were.

"Mrs. Porter?" the man said, his accent tidy and precise. "I wish to retain your daughter's services on a small professional matter. Would you happen to know her whereabouts?"
