Return to the Southern Continent

"Umm... thanks." She said, retrieving her hand and moving to follow the group. As Rieko's restuarant fell behind the kobold recalled something which had happened shortly after they made their hurried exit from the previous dining area. She turned to Drusia.

"Malacia... Dru? What's Malacia? Oh! Erm... mind me asking?"

I smile sadly at her. "It was the city where I was born," I tell her. "It was a floating city - the sister city to Tsuirakushiti in fact. About two thousand years ago, give or take a few centuries, a... man went insane and broke the flying mechanism. Malacia crashed into the ocean and sank. It was... it was like what happened to the tower, but if it was the whole city, not just one tower. I was just a little girl then, but when the tower started coming down, it was like I was back there again, seeing my home drown."

I shake my head. "Sorry. I don't mean to be gloomy. Just... bad memories. I normally like visiting Tsuirakushiti because it reminds me of home in a good way."

"It's 'kay, I understand. Nearly lost ma..." She stopped, frowned for a moment and continued. "...my home when I was a gah*, um, child. Ralkin tried to clear us out, they sent monsters... my parents died in the fighting." She paused as if visualizing the memory, although no sadness showed on her face. "Did lose home for a few weeks actually, the bad men ran-over... umm, overran us. Leli saved me, snatched me up before a chittorick got me."

The kobold briefly described the subterranian horror to the elf, and it's connection to the cult's summoning magic. There was a background tone of horror in the kobold's voice as she did, implying she still carried a fear of the creatures. She forced a smile on her face as she finished her story.

"We got home back, lost friends and family, but we got it back. I'm sorry you lost yours, but kobold's always nice to strangers... well.. 'sept poachers, slavers, bandits, Ralkin and bad men. I'll... uhh, we'll make you feel at home."

Khoo listened to this conversation in stunned silence as the implications sank in on him. What he had presumed to be an upper-class Tsuirakuan woman, with her unusually tall and "customized" familiar and some manner of ex-military bodyguard or escort or whatever, was anything but. She was an elf. (Why he hadn't figured this out already from her ears was a question he'd ponder later.) He'd never met an elf before. There were stories among his Sashi Mu classmates of a visiting party of elves, about fifteen years back when they were children, but he'd still been in Perfisu when that happened, just about to have his first experience with real magic.

He recovered quickly. As recently as maybe two or three years ago, he'd have been intimidated by the prospect of traveling with this crew. However, good students at Sashi Mu, of which he was one, acquired self-confidence as easily and automatically as any of the magical techniques they were taught. If anything, his companions weren't sounding intimidating now; they were sounding fun. It was the opportunity to see a wider world, to explore new things, that had led him to apply for that special program at the academy. Now he was going to get more of that same opportunity while the academy was shut down. How could life be better?

He started to ask Drusia about her own homeland, but before he could get the question out, the first wave of refugees who'd gated out of Tsuirakushiti reached them, panic still in their eyes.

I smile. "Thank you. I look forward to seeing your home." My smile fades a bit. "And to helping you eliminate those who attacked it."

I take Tamina's hand - paw, whatever - and give it a gentle squeeze.

... and from the sounds of it we have company. Of the non-threatening sort. I sigh. Always something.

I look to Udo - he's the local, I'll let him lead.

"Let's skedaddle," said Udo. Taking Tamina's other paw - to make sure they didn't get separated, of course! - he pulled them into an alley he knew and started them off towards Bapartotanu. "They'll probably call out the National Guard to get the crowd under control," he said, as he jogged along. "Let's get to the gate before Homeland Security closes it off."

Being stuck in Tsuiraku with these lovely ladies wouldn't actually be that bad, except that funds were running a little short, and this was not a place to be down and out. Better to clear out, have the adventure, wipe out the evil cultists, and come back with all the ruby-eyed idols, stolen jewelry from sacrificial victims, and cultic devotional dirty pictures they no doubt crammed their temples full of. Then have a real holiday!

OOC: I think we're in a position where we could fast-forward if people wish. However, I'm not sure where to fast-forward to. Drusia, what's the plan? You seem to have the clearest idea of how we're getting to the Southern Continent.

If people would rather slog through Tsuirakushita some more, a thing can be arranged either with the mob coming in from the warp gate, or in Bapartotanu. Just say the word.

[OOC: I'm very happy to move it to the Southern Continent - this being Jack's Ralkin adventure I'm just as happy if he does it.]

So did I. So I'd say pick one and we'll materialize there. Maybe Kiyoka for a change of pace? There's already been a lot of action in Lorrel recently, and we haven't seen Kiyoka since the very first few episodes of the game.

OOC Sounds good to me, Lorrel's intended to be the end location for this storyline anyway. I've read up on the place, I'll try to go through the original thread if I get the chance./OOC

The decision was eventually made to head to Kiyoka, a choice heartily agreed with by the kobold, who recalled her first arrival to Port Lorrel with a shudder. She took a last look at the town around her before they entered the warp gate building and sighed, silently she was praying to whichever spirits were listening that Leli would know what to do once she gotten home. She was the only member of the tribe still alive who'd been around when Fucilious had first tried his luck against her people, if anyone knew a way to stop him for good, it would be her.

The passage through what Tamina insisted was a 'magic tunnel' brought the foursome to the seaport with an unpleasant cracking noise and a feeling of vertigo that made the humanoid stagger and fall upon their arrival. She put her paw-like hands on the floor and heaved.

"Maybe... *hurk*... flying wasn't such a bad idea." She managed. "Hey! *hurk* Said that right!"

The humanoid was helped outside by her burly knight protector and into the sunlight of the port. She managed a weak smile as she saw the gleam of the sea beyond the waterfront.

"Not far now... be home soon." She whispered.
