Kiyoka

As we play, occasionally we'll close a thread and open a new one to keep the size of threads (and relative complexity) down to a dull roar. Here's where we store the closed posts from the history of Errant Road.

A threat! Yay!!

Argus was overjoyed. He was looking forward to this.

"Just... two... words...then..." Argus rasped out. The battlemage leaned forward, an expression of smug superoirity on his face. Probably expecting Argus to beg for his life.

How droll.

Argus spoke two words and allowed a surge of magic to run out of him. "Testicularis Demolishus."

In response, the wooden floor suddenly surged, shaping itself into a fist, and thrusting itself up with immense force... right between the battemage's legs. The man never saw it coming. Actually, he was cross-eyed for quite some time. There was also a distinct 'popping' noise from somewhere. The fist struck with enough force to knock the man vertically, sending him headfirst into the ceiling with enough force to crack the beam. He fell to the floor limp as a ragdoll. A second spell formed beside Argus' bed, sending another wooden fist into the crushing weight in his chest, knocking it to the floor.

It seemed insignificant compared to the attack spell, somehow.

Argus gasped as air filled his lungs. That had been fun, but he'd really have to avoid leaving it so close next time. He sat up, head throbbing, and not just from the hangover. Argus had put a lot of power into that punch, and it had left him dizzy. But it had been worth it.

Argus stood up and looked at the whimpering wreck that had once been a battlemage. "By the weave. They're letting any imbecile in these days, aren't they." Argus' voice was cold as a glacier. Had the man been in any condition to register it, or see the equally frigid look in the old mage's eyes, he would have understood why Argus Cleiviein had once commanded such respect in Tsuirakushiti. To do otherwise was simply not an option.

Sadly, the man wasn't, and didn't and so the moment passed unnoticed. It was just as well; his blood might conceivably have frozen solid.

But what to do with the man?

(OOC: Hope I didn't wreck an encounter here. I had this idea and just couldn't stop typing.)

[OOC: That was just fine, one of two entirely satisfactory resolutions... /OOC:]

The shattered battlemage finally pulled himself together well enough to look at Argus, a sequence of emotions playing over his face in rapid succession: pain, surprise, pain, horror, pain, rage, pain, and fear.

And finally, pain.

But not too much pain to keep him from speaking one single word:

"Home."

Both mage and weight disappeared with a soft pop, leaving a regulation, 10-gram apothecary's weight sitting on the night stand next to Argus' bed.

OOC again: I think this would be a good time to take another brief "chapter break" as Viking proposed earlier, so that folks can catch up on what's been going on. When we reconvene, I'd recommend starting another thread called "Kiyoka, Part 2" or something like that. This thread is getting so long that it's hard to read and follow. In many regards that's a good thing -- it means that there's a lot of interest in the thing, with enough participation to produce some good story telling (Drannin, you've been terrific here). But let's get a new thread going to make life easier for readers, and maybe also participants.

I'll put up a summary in Viking's proposed style, in a new thread devoted to status reports or chapter summaries or some such, before turning in tonight, and we can resume with the fun and games in the morning. Good stuff!
