The main surprise is that Farrel even has a concept of 'jailbait' (it also has a suspiciously modern-looking sink with running water a couple pages back).

Jon's a smartass assassin for hire. That he STILL manages to be one of the better role models Meji runs into through the course of this story doesn't mean he actually IS a good role model, and just goes to show how unqualified most of the people who are supposed to be responsible for Meji really are.
As such, bar-hopping with 17 year olds who look 12 is a go, and this is probably the LEAST scarring thing that someone puts Meji through in this story.
