Jon's "look of innocence" is VERY funny!
Best part is? It's actually the truth! lolz!

No, really, Sarine, you can tell that? And he lies so well, too!

Just the sight of an Elf is enough to send bar patrons running? Elves really have a bad reputation, evidently.

To be fair, I get the impression that Mandi's patrons are not entirely reputable. Much easier to send folks running when none of them can afford to be there if authorities show up.

Well... Half-truth. Quarter truth technically.

Deliberately misleading statement coupled with deliberately suspicious expression of innocence designed to give the wrong impression over something that might not be an out-and-out lie if you squint at it.

1) Actually is going to take Meji back home
2) which is not remotely in Farrel - obvious lie one
3) going to help her possibly desecrate an elven ruin so she can take over the world before doing so
4) really just in it as an excuse to hide out and travel while the problems with the Wraiths and law enforcement sort themselves out

Jon is simultaneously faking the dumb, suggesting dirty old man ulterior motives, messing with Sarine who he doesn't trust whatsoever, and glossing over a bunch of important information while somehow managing to answer something with the tiniest kernel of truth but at the same time not answering at all and really raising more questions in the process.

It's like watching a master artist work.

And of course, it makes Sarine's reaction all the funnier. "I can tell when someone is lying." Really Sarine? Really? What aspect of that oh-so-subtle attempt tipped you off?

Plus he wants her to think he's lying, it's glorious.
