2009-06-12 Not over this
Not exactly the midas touch on that girl. Sarine must have absolutely nil suicidal tendencies, because I just don't see her making it as far as she has otherwise.

Wow, so this is what nearly 3000 years of combat training and experience gets you - combat auto pilot. Sarine didn't even realise she dealt her the fatal blow.
Aaaaaand here we go with the angst again.

Time for the little girl to grow up and take responsibility for her actions.

If not over this than what should it be over? A death duel is a death duel and the reasons are irrelevent once the duel commences, regardless of how petty that they may seem. The outcome is still ... a death. What does Sarine think, that she can resurrect Sarna and Sarna will stop trying to kill her?

wow. no final words, no melodrama, just a cough, a sputter, and that's that. You don't see that often these days.

...Frak. And here I'd really been hoping she'd thought the fight through enough to not do this.

Totally saw it coming, Sarna would probably show some regret, but wouldn't do the same.
Sarine shouldn't keep betraying her people if she isn't emotionally ready to kill her old friends/ex-friends/beloved aquaintances.

She can't help it. If there is one thing that we've learned about Sarine, it's that she kills reluctantly. No One wrote:...Frak. And here I'd really been hoping she'd thought the fight through enough to not do this.
At the same time, I do wonder how else she thought this could end. In some happy world filled with rainbows and cute bunnies, maybe Sarna could be "subdued," see the error of her ways, and join the party. Sarine is worldly wise (not to mention world weary) enough to know that she doesn't inhabit that world. So what was her alternative?
Because old is wise, does good, and above all, kicks ass.
