Forum SW upgrade rescheduled for Jan 1.

New year, new forum SW. I hope.

I think I found the problems and will be bouncing the forums again on New Years Day. (An admin's work is never done. )

Expect some style changes during the upgrades.

The forum SW upgrades are done.

Styles have been refreshed (cures the double "post a reply" and similar problems).

We have also set the mail option to use the board mail instead of sending directly. This should cut down on spam email collectors getting your email address.

If you are having any problems with the forums, PM or email me. I will be monitoring the un-official #es channel on irc.krl.com.

Wait, we won't get notification e-mails anymore? I relied on those to tell me when to check the forums.

That part hasn't changed. What changed is how an individual can send you mail.

Before, the letter icon below your name had a mailto: URL. This meant that spammers could cull mail addresses from the forum pages. Now, it sends the user to a web page and the web software sends you the mail. The mail comes from the forums at this site and has a reply-to field with the sender's real address.

All the other mail functions work like they always have.
