3 Things - Summer Camp Challenge

Post by Viking-Sensei »

I figure it's been long enough that it should be moderately safe to start another round of 3 Things... this time with the emphasis on camping, grilling, and other outdoor-themed materials. For anyone who missed the original 3 Things games, here's the basic premise:

You are shopping. It's late at night. You bring 3 items up to the cash register and, without saying a word, purchase them from the cashier. Now, what's the twist, you ask? Well, these three things you've picked have to tell a story. It can be dirty, or heartwarming, or funny, or sadistic, or imply that you're a serial killer - it doesn't matter, so long as it tells a story that I (being the highly subjective judge) can determine.

The only real rules are:
- No duplication - you cannot use an item or items that someone else has already used in their list. The item can be similar (masking tape vs duck tape), or achieve the same function (matches vs lighter) but cannot be the same.
- No lame ducks - items must be in sets of 3, and all 3 must be involved in whatever dastardly deed you're intending to commit.
- No comments - It's up to you to tell the story via the items, not through your words or deeds... so no passing messages to the cashier.

Points will be awarded for originality, creativity, and theme usage. Points will be subtracted for re-using other people's ideas or items, or for being too blatant in your innuendos. The overall point winner will receive some prize, of an as-yet-determined nature.

Some examples of pairings from the past:

A violin, an exacto knife, and some catnip.
(from Christmas last year) Stocking, Razorblades, Mousetrap
Binary joining compound, shampoo, and conditioner.

The game is to run the entire month of June, and scoring will be done at some point afterwards. With about a week left, I'll throw some additional modifiers up to keep things interesting.

Game over. How is anyone going to top that? But I'll try:

Box of graham crackers, bag of marshmallows, chocolate-flavored laxative.

Poe is a lucky, lucky man. Or is this for your personal enjoyment?
...
A baseball bat, a live hamster, and a large tube of sealing caulk.
Wait... camping? A keg of kerosene, a funnel, and a bag full of marshmellows. For added fun, read in conjunction with the crossed out list above.

Unfortunately Impy already claimed the pedophilia angle.

There's no rule that it has to be all camping stuff - there's just bonus points in the scoring for going with the "theme" items. Like... we had a christmas and a halloween one before.

Unfortunately, there is a rule on repetition - Graybeard already snagged the marshmallows. Since this is your first time AND it's been a long time since we've done one of these, I'll let it go this time, but everyone be warned - the "no duplication" rule is still in effect.
How could a plan this awesome possibly fail?

Labrat can have the miniature marshmallows while I use the full-sized ones.

Bottle of suntan lotion, bottle of indelible red ink, small funnel. (His funnel was going to be large, right? Turnabout is fair play...)

Oh, if we want to take THAT route...

Turkey baster, 12 pack of JELL-O Instant Butterscotch pudding mix, and a 3 pack of duct tape.
