Re: Return to the Southern Continent
"I'm heading there tomorrow, by happy coincidence." The sailor replied, doffing his hat politely at the shorter man. "Are you escorting this young lady home, my friend?"
"Yeah!" Tamina said, and pointed a clawed digit at her noble knight. "S' Udo. He's got the good guns. We're on a mission, very important, saving peoples from the bad men!"
"So you're a pair of traveling heroes?" The man threw back his head and laughed, although there was no mocking quality in the sound. "Sounds like something out of one of those adventure books my brother obsesses over. The Narwhal has space for a few passengers I suppose, if the passengers can pay their way of course."
"So, if we give you shinies, you'll take us to the Killikah lands?"
"Yes."
"<Could you say in that kobold please?>"
"<I'll take you to the Killikah lands, young cub.>"
Tamina made a 'squeeing' noise.

OOC: ??? Who cut in on him? Last I knew, he and Drusia were dancing.Graybeard wrote:OOC: Khoo isn't going to have anything to say for the moment; he'll just be sitting back and politely watching Drusia dance with the man who cut in on him, and trying to make sense of the exchange between Tamina and this newcomer.
**rereads post**
Wait... when Dru said "waiter" she meant Khoo. She forgot his name because - well, because she really doesn't care yet. It took her a while to start remembering Udo's name too - he was "bodyguard" for a while.
Or are you suggesting that someone has cut in on him since then?
Ah well, either way it won't matter shortly... /OOC

Re: Return to the Southern Continent
I watch Udo's fail with rather more amusement that is probably approprate. Ah well, it seems I won't need to destroy him afterall - the dancing has taken care of that for me. Unfortunately, Tamina is still rather busy. And enjoying herself. I shant interupt then.
**some time passes**
Tamina made a 'squeeing' noise.
Hmm? Oh, Tamina's extracted herself and is speaking with someone. And Udo is there, hovering. That's my cue.
"If you'll excuse me," I say to my dance partner. I leave him and move to Tamina's side.
"You look pleased," I say, smiling at her. "Good news?"

Re: Return to the Southern Continent
Tamina nodded eagerly at Drusia.
"The Red Man... erm... Morry-arty, says he can take us home!"
"Moriarty, ma'am." The Captain said by way of greeting, and gave a formal bow. "My ship sails tomorrow, although I'd never imagined I'd meet an elf wanting passage to Grendell."
"Drusia." Tamina supplied, with another point. "...got the good magics, she's helping me get the bad men too."
"Good guns AND good magic?" The flashily dressed man replied. "Your enemies must be shaking in their boots ma'am."

Re: Return to the Southern Continent
OOC: Oops, my mistake. I misread Alberich's post and inferred that both Khoo and Udo had been cut in on by fishermen. So Drusia can do with Khoo whatever she sees fit.

Re: Return to the Southern Continent
"Oh, and there's one more hero, our buddy Khoo!" Udo waved him over. "He's a magician too - and eager to get into a fight and mix it up with our enemies. Those pirates and sea monsters don't stand a chance!" He emitted a cackle, his embarrassment of a moment ago quite forgotten. (Forgetting embarrassments was one of Udo's greatest talents. In a day or two he'd remember himself as exceptionally light-footed in a jig.)

"'specially not giant eels!" Tamina added.
The arrangements were made and coin was exchanged. The Curious Narwhal was to set sail at ten the following morning (it was docked close by, a convenient hundred yards from The Drake). That left the travelers with some time to kill before their departure and an unfamiliar town to kill it in. The kobold gravitated towards the bar at the end of discussion, while the Captain tipped his hat one more time and took his leave.
"What can I get you?"
"Swoggles please!" Tamina told the barman.

I accompany Tamina to the bar.
"Swoggles please!" Tamina told the barman.
Eh, what the hell. "The same," I add, sitting down next to her.

"Sake," said Udo, taking Tamina's other side, so that she was well flanked by eager and powerful protectors who were totally perving at her.

Re: Return to the Southern Continent
The dancing done for the moment, Khoo watched the procession to the bar with quiet interest. He'd never been a bar hopper himself, nor had he been much of a drinker. However, if he was going to be traveling with this trio, it was the least he could do to be normally sociable with them. He rose and bellied up to the bar. "I'll try a Swoggles too," he said; that would be some common ground for conversation, and besides, it might be interesting to see just what there was about the stuff, completely unfamiliar to him, that had brought his companions into range at just the right moment.
There was "something about the stuff," all right. The moment he popped the top off the bottle, his senses were assaulted by an odor that he could only describe as ... peculiar. His immediate reaction was an urge to throw the bottle as far as he could, and hope the contents didn't catch fire when it landed. (A puckish corner of his mind corrected him; no, it would be interesting if the contents did catch fire.) However, he overcame this urge and took a drink.
It was like being hit by a thunderbolt. Spots swam before his eyes; there was a roaring in his ears; he could feel his head spinning in three different directions at once. By the Sea God, what was going on here? He couldn't stand, but he couldn't sit either. His head was full of helium, lifting away to join the airship that had crashed into the Tower of Artifex. In fact his head was en route to a similar crash itself...
"Allergies," he managed to get out to his companions at the bar, just before he collapsed in a heap.
