Re: 2016-10-06: Recycled Joke
Last year i was determined to find out where the actual fuck you're supposed to recycle batteries, and after asking people who take car batteries, cordless drill batteries, and even coin cell batteries, i finally got an answer to where i'm supposed to take my box full of regular old batteries. The garbage dump. In their hazardous waste section. And i'd have to pay THEM money to take the batteries.
So i can totally relate to what Naga is saying in the last panel.

I kinda can't be fucked and I know that our commingled recycling gets sorted by hand anyway, so the few batteries I use go in the recycling. Someone will sort them out and dispose of them however and then it's not my problem.
Seriously when we have commingled recycling sort facilities already why do "special" recyclable processes even exist anymore?

It will surprise nobody that Poe and I have had this exact conversation. Except I haven't given up on finding the correct method of disposal.

Alkaline batteries are actually safe to throw in the garbage, modern versions are made without mercury

Joke is still funny, it is a classic case of technology marches on thoughMichael Poe wrote:Damn modern technology ruining a perfectly good joke.taltamir wrote:Alkaline batteries are actually safe to throw in the garbage, modern versions are made without mercury

it is worth noting that that is just alkaline batteries (your typical non rechargeable one)
Rechargeable batteries are still unsafe and need to be especially recycled.
